At The Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, academic advising is a collaborative effort between professional advisors and faculty mentors, working together to support your success.

Professional Academic Advisors

Professional advisors guide all students through course selection, registration, academic planning, and navigating university policies. They ensure you stay on track toward your degree.

Faculty Mentors

Once you have earned 60 or more credit hours, you’ll be paired with a faculty mentor. Faculty mentors help you explore career paths, prepare for graduate school, connect with internships, build your professional network, and set long-term goals.

A Team Approach

This partnership between professional advisors and faculty mentors provides you with both academic structure and personalized career guidance tailored to your field of study.

Restricted Programs

Students enrolled in Nursing (BSN or ADN), Dental Hygiene, Respiratory Care, and Radiologic Technology continue to work closely with their assigned faculty advisor. Faculty advisors in these selective programs provide both academic and career-related support, while professional advisors assist with degree audits and graduation planning.

Professional Academic Advisors:

  • Students in their second year and who have not completed 60 credit hours at the end of a spring semester.
  • Students who have not been admitted to Nursing (ADN or BSN), Dental Hygiene, Respiratory Care, or Social Work.

Faculty Mentor:

  • Students with 60+ credit hours will be assigned a faculty mentor to support career development and professional goals.
  • Faculty mentors help with career conversations, internships, graduate school planning, networking, and resumes.
  • Students continue to meet with professional academic advisors for course scheduling, degree planning, and university policies.

Please note: Students in restricted programs (e.g., Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Respiratory Care, Radiologic Tech) will continue to have faculty advisors for both academic and career guidance.
