When can I apply for graduation?

To apply for graduation, you must have already requested a graduation evaluation from your advisor and met with them to review it. Your advisor will then tell you when you are clear to apply for graduation. The Graduation Evaluation should be requested the semester BEFORE you plan to graduate. This is a requirement.

Please note: Requesting a Graduation Evaluation and Applying to Graduate are two different things.

How do I apply for graduation?

You will apply through the Penguin Portal. Got to Student Profile and then click “Apply to Graduate” on the left-hand side of the screen.

Are there deadlines to apply?

Yes, there are deadlines and late fees if you miss those deadlines. Watch your YSU email and visit the website to find the deadline dates.

How do I push back my graduation date?

If you have already applied for graduation and wish to withdraw your application, please call the Office of Records at 330-941-3182. You should also email your advisor and let them know.

When do I receive my regalia?

Regalia will be mailed to you. If you have not received your regalia, please contact us at 330-941-2962

What should I wear?

Please dress in business attire. Leave purses, bags, wallets, and valuables locked in your car. There will be nowhere to store them once you arrive at Stambaugh Stadium.

What if I’m graduating with honors?

Honor cords will be distributed to graduates who have earned them. Location to be announced.
