The STEM College Advisory Council is comprised of influential leaders in industry and government who share a common commitment to the success of YSU.

One of five new Merit Badges introduced in April this year, the Robotics Merit Badge joins 125 other subjects in the Merit Badge Program of the Boy Scouts of America. On Saturday, Nov.

Sean Robinson, junior Physics major, completed an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) at Case Western Reserve University this past summer. This National Science Foundation-sponsored REU was held in conjunction with the NSF-funded Center for Layered Polymer Systems (CLiPS) led by CWRU.

The YSU STEM College has enhanced its cooperative/internship program for students designed to increase employment opportunities. Sherri Hrusovski, Coordinator of STEM Student Professional Services, plans to have the program in place by the summer semester of 2012.

Ohio’s Third Frontier program provides funding for four collaborative research projects that support YSU students and faculty for research conducted in conjunction with industry partners.

Each year the Youngstown Chapter of the Ohio Contractor’s Association (OCA) sponsors the “Contractor for a Day Event”.

The CTME along with the ASM Materials Education Foundation co-sponsored a “Materials Camp” for pre-college teachers the week of July 11– 15, 2011, which culminated in a luncheon hosted by Dr. Martin A.

Dr. Darrell Wallace is a Manufacturing Engineering Professor, recently elected Vice Chair of a national engineering organization. He got his bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and his Ph.D in Industrial Engineering from the Ohio State University.

Daniel Day

The College of STEM will host a free Radio Day event for 5th-8th grade students on Saturday, April 26th from 10am-3pm at the Williamson Innovation Park!

Carol Lamb is Chair of the School of Computer Science, Information, and  Engineering Technology at Youngstown State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology and a master’s in engineering management. Carol earned her Ph.D.
