Spring 2023 Recap
Spring semester is always bustling with events, competitions, and ceremonies. Here are just a few highlights from the STEM College this year:
Science Day
On February 27th, YSU STEM hosted dozens of local high school students to celebrate National Science Day. Students rotated through interactive sessions to learn more about careers in science through presentations, demos and hands-on activities. Some of the activities included finger-printing with Forensic Science, building simple motors with Physics, and water quality analysis with Environmental Science. Participants also had the opportunity to meet with regional employers to learn about job opportunities in the science fields.

District 15 Lake-to-River Science Fair
Each year, YSU hosts students in 5th-12th grade participating in the Ohio Academy of Science, District 15 Science Fair. Students work locally on their projects and many participate in a school-based fair before attending districts. YSU faculty, staff, students and area employers volunteer to evaluate the submissions and give feedback on each project. Projects that earn a "superior" rating are then eligible to participate in the State competition. Dozens of area business donated prizes. This year's event was sponsored by Altronic, CJL Engineering, and IES Systems, Inc. You can see news coverage of the event here.
