Long-time STEM Expo Sponsor Values Investment in Local Talent
Not so long ago, located right across the street from each other in Salem, Ohio, Butech and Bliss were two separate companies.
Founded by John Buta in 1985, who still serves as the company’s president, Butech had a small manufacturing shop focused on developing innovative machine technologies for the metals industry. Over the years, they became a world-renowned supplier of splitting lines, scrap choppers, side trimmers, shears and hydraulic roller levelers. Due to limitations of the facility, Butech focused on manufacturing individual equipment including cut-to-length line equipment.
That all changed when Butech purchased the manufacturing facilities and later the intellectual property of Bliss, a steel equipment company with over 130 year history in building heavy-duty rolling mill equipment for ferrous and non-ferrous metal producers. Their engineering and manufacturing facilities are among the best available in North America.
With the purchase of the Bliss manufacturing facilities, Butech picked up an enormous amount of manufacturing capacity and thus began to broaden their product offerings to include a wide array of complete mill and metal processing line equipment. When Butech purchased the Bliss manufacturing facility they invested millions of dollars into upgrading many of the equipment tool centers. Currently, the Butech Bliss manufacturing facilities (3 locations in Salem, OH) include more than 95 machining centers and continue to invest in new equipment to be the most efficient equipment builder in the industry.
