Robert J. Korenic, Youngstown State University Associate Professor of Civil and Construction Engineering Technology, in collaboration with the Ohio Contractors Association (OCA), hosted the 29th Annual “Constructor for A Day” program. The event is a proven way to strengthen ties between contractors and students attending YSU who are majoring in Civil and Construction Engineering Technology as well as Civil and Environmental Engineering. Approximately 25 students met at the A.P. O’Horo Company on Belmont Avenue and then toured local job sites. This year the sites included a bridge project and paving on the Pennsylvania turnpike as well a visit to MS Consultants to discuss the New Castle waste water treatment plant project. The program allows students to see first-hand practical applications of their education. It also provides students the opportunity to network with area contractors and to see the various areas of the field that are available to work in with a degree in Civil and Construction Engineering Technology or Civil and Environmental Engineering.
