The Nathan Douds Ensemble is a group that performs original compositions, which aim to combine any and all divergent musical styles including: contemporary and avant-garde jazz/improvisation, contemporary classical and chamber music, rock/fusion, various world musics, and electro-acoustic music. The members of this ensemble have immensely diverse musical influences, educational backgrounds, and career paths, all of which act as contributing factors in allowing the group to remain diverse and flexible in creating a unique musical language.
Nathan Douds is an active freelance percussionist, pianist, composer, and educator in the Cleveland and Pittsburgh areas. He has been performing professionally in many diverse genres for over 15 years, has toured internationally, and has performed with such artists as: Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, John Hollenbeck, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Michael Feinstein, Bobby Selvaggio, and Sean Jones. Nathan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance from Youngstown State University and a Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University in Jazz Studies: Applied Piano. He is currently adjunct faculty at Slippery Rock University (PA) and Youngstown State University (OH).
