About the TEAS Test
The ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is a standardized test designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness for entering the health science fields. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.
ATI TEAS Exam requirement for admission
The ATI TEAS exam has been statistically proven to be a valid predictor of early allied health and nursing school success. Your TEAS score serves as a measure of academic preparedness and is one of the factors Youngstown State University considers when evaluating applicants for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Radiologic Technology programs.
Applicants must take the ATI TEAS exam to be considered for admission to the ADN or Radiologic Technology programs.
Can I re-take the TEAS Exam?
- The TEAS test can be retaken twice within a 12-month period, with a 14-day waiting period between attempts.
- TEAS scores are valid for two years.
What does the TEAS Exam consist of?
The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions that are formatted as both multiple choice items with 4 answer options and alternate-type items. This includes 150 scored questions and 20 unscored pretest questions. Students have 209 minutes to complete the exam.
For students testing on or after June 3, 2022 (ATI TEAS, version 7), the number of questions in each content section and subsection are as follows:

- Integration of Knowledge & Ideas – 15

- Math – 38 questions (57 minutes)

How to Register for the ATI TEAS Exam
There are two ways to take the TEAS exam:
- TEAS Exam – Online Registration via TEAS at ATI
- If you are registering to take the TEAS exam online through TEAS at ATI, you can review the registration process and instructions in the guide below:
- ATI TEAS Exam – Onsite Testing at Youngstown State University
- To take the ATI TEAS exam onsite at Youngstown State University, you must first create an ATI account. You can do so by clicking Create an ATI Account.
- To schedule your TEAS assessment test date, visit TEAS Exam on Campus. From there, click on the ati TEAS Testing tile. From there, select your preferred date and time to complete your registration for an on-campus exam.
How to Send your TEAS Results to YSU
- If you take the TEAS exam at the YSU Testing Center, YSU will automatically have your results. You will need to download an unofficial copy of your results to upload with your Request for Review.
- To download an unofficial TEAS Transcript:
- Access your ATI account: Go to the ATI website and log in using your credentials.
- Go to "My Results": Once logged in, select the "My Results" tab from your dashboard.
- Choose your TEAS exam: Locate the specific TEAS exam you want the transcript for and click on it.
- Download the report: On the exam details page, click the "Download Report" button to save a PDF copy of your score report.
- Upload the report: You will be asked to upload this report when you complete the Request for Review.
- If you take the TEAS exam online, YSU will not have your results. You are responsible for going into your ATI Student Account and requesting that ATI send YSU an official transcript.

- Meeting the minimum TEAS test score does not guarantee admission to the ADN or Radiologic Technology programs.
- The TEAS exam must be completed before requesting a review to confirm that you have met the admissions requirements.
