All applications will be date and time stamped upon submission. Applications must be complete with all supporting documentation to be accepted. After the closing date all complete applications will be reviewed to determine if the applicant meets the admission criteria. Those meeting the admission criteria will be ranked, with 30 students chosen to fill the class. The remaining applicants will be placed on a waiting list according to their admission criteria ranking. Students on the waiting list will be called if an opening becomes available.

With two locations - scheduling is a breeze!

Basic Peace Officer Training at Youngstown State University is considered a daytime academy, with classes going on during the day. If this isn't appealing, this program is also offered at our Steubenville campus! This is specifically a two-semester evening academy with classes later at night, perfect for those who can't find the time to make it all work. Aside from time and location, this is the exact same program offered at YSU Main Campus.
