Bitonte College of Health and Human Services

A Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services at Youngstown State University.

Sara Michaliszyn, BCHHS Dean

Whether you’re beginning your journey in health and human services, advancing your education, or partnering with us in the community, we’re glad you’re here. At BCHHS, our focus is simple and purposeful: to prepare compassionate, skilled professionals who are ready to improve lives and strengthen communities.

Our programs are rooted in hands-on learning and real-world experience. From clinical placements and internships to community engagement and research opportunities, our students gain the practical skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s evolving health and human services fields.

Our students are supported by dedicated faculty and staff who bring both expertise and genuine care to their work. They are mentors as much as educators—committed to helping our students grow academically, professionally, and personally. Through strong partnerships with healthcare providers, agencies, and organizations across the region, we ensure our programs are connected to meaningful career pathways.

At BCHHS, we believe in access, opportunity, and the power of education to transform lives. Everything we do is centered on helping you become a thoughtful leader and a difference-maker in the lives of others.

Committed to your success,
Sara Michaliszyn, PhD, EP
