On March 2, 2022, the College of STEM invited local high school students and employers to participate in the first on-campus National Science Day (February 28) celebration!

Around 60 students were in attendance from Austintown, East, Howland, Lordstown and Valley STEM Academy. Groups participated in several sessions that focused on exploring the various fields within science hosted by YSU STEM faculty. Students participated in activities ranging from blood splatter analysis to building simple motors.

Additionally, students were able to speak with representatives from employers about their professions and how to prepare for these professions! Companies and organizations in attendance included College of Pharmacy at NEOMED, Mahoning County Coroner's Office, Mill Creek Metroparks, ODNR - Division of Wildlife and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Students were able to gain exposure to a variety of different science careers and the majors that can get them there! We thank the employer partners for coming out and networking, the faculty for their creation and facilitation of these hands-on activities, and our helpful volunteers! We look forward to next year’s event in Spring 2023!
