At the STEM College, we can never express enough how proud we are of our students. Students, like Greg Brooks, go above and beyond the call of academic duty and keep achieving new heights. Greg, a sophomore Electrical Engineering major, has spent quite a bit of time on campus. Not only does he maintain his course load, but he also holds several offices for several different student organizations on campus. Greg is the president of the National Society of Black Engineers, treasurer of Be the Bridge, and political chair of Student Diversity. He is also a member of the NAACP. The Cleveland native enjoys learning about electrical engineering because it will help him build the career he wants. While Greg doesn’t know exactly what he wants to do after he graduates, he hopes to be able feed his music passion by designing and making audio equipment. He also wants to create a mentoring program in his hometown. This semester, while Greg has been working toward his future at YSU, he received some amazing news that will help him along the way. This summer, Greg will be interning with Nissan at their Technical Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan. This opportunity will allow him to grow in the electrical engineering field and to continue to be the role model to his brother, and his community, that he has always wanted to be. “I want to make a difference in this world and help make it a better place,” Greg says. “I want to be remembered as a man of change who always led others in the right direction. Greg believes that with hard work and active involvement on campus and in his community, anything can be achieved. He was the only male student at his high school ‘signing day,’ which is a day that high school students sign on to their respective colleges. Greg wants to see more students from his hometown sign up to go to college and succeed like he has.

“I love my hometown,” he says. “And, I am one of those people who are always proud to say where they are from and announce it to everyone. I want to see everyone succeed in life, not just me, this is why I am so involved.”
