The 2022 Penguin Baja Racing competition team recently competed in two events: Cookeville, Tennessee in May and Rochester, NY in June. This is the first year since 2019 that all the events were in person. The YSU team had a balanced performance across the eight individual competition events resulting in 16th overall in Cookeville and 14th overall in Rochester. These international events feature teams from across the United States and over 10 different countries, and marked the team’s best two fully in person finishes in Penguin Baja Racing history, besting all other Ohio teams in the process. The team’s business presentation dominated the international field placing 1st in Tennessee and 2nd in Rochester. Other top 20 finishes include the design presentation (12th), the over-all static events score (12th), the over-all dynamic events score (19th), and the acceleration event (20th). The 2023 team has already started working on adjustments to their presentations and the vehicle, as they go after the coveted top ten finish in Arizona at the end of September.
