Participants get silly for science

Kids creating objects with Twizzlers which are Lego-esque ball-and-socket joint toys.

People crowded Federal St. and the OH WOW! Children's Center on Sept. 20 for the annual Silly Science Sunday. This year's festivities included an engineering challenge put on by Dr. Kerry Meyers, the YSU College of Art showed up, and Dr. Ray put on his Amazing Sideshow of Science! Children were able to watch 3D printers in action, and even create their own objects using Twizzlers. Robots marched around the basement of OH WOW!, and children were able to imagine their future selves in the #When I Grow Up photo booth. The OH WOW! Roger and Gloria Jones Children Center for Science and Technology opened in downtown Youngstown in 2011. Their mission is engage independent thinking and enrich the lives of children through hands-on activities and educational programs about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
