Robert J. Korenic, Youngstown State University Professor of Civil and Construction Engineering Technology, in collaboration with the Ohio Contractors Association (OCA), hosted the 30th Annual “Constructor for A Day” program.  The event is a proven way to strengthen ties between contractors and students attending YSU who are majoring in Civil and Construction Engineering Technology as well as Civil and Environmental Engineering.  Approximately 10 students met in Moser Hall and then toured local job sites.

This year the sites included the Akron State Route 76/77 interchange bridge and exit ramp improvements as well a visit to MS Consultants to discuss the East Palestine train derailment water treatment.  The last tour of the day was the Federal Plaza road work in downtown Youngstown.  The program allows students to see first-hand practical applications of their education.  It also provides students the opportunity to network with area contractors and to see the various areas of the field that are available to work in with a degree in Civil and Construction Engineering Technology or Civil and Environmental Engineering.
