New Scholarship Opportunity Announced! Currently enrolled YSU students interested in pursuing a career in the semiconductor industry and chip manufacturing may be eligible for a scholarship! Intel's investment of more than $20 billion in Ohio to build a new semiconductor manufacturing site is expected to create 7,000 jobs in construction and 3,000 long-term positions in engineering and manufacturing. This new facility will provide the necessary capacity for Intel's next-generation products. In addition to this investment, Intel has also committed to developing a skilled talent pipeline for its two new chip fabs. As part of this initiative, Intel announced the first phase of funding for the Ohio Semiconductor Education and Research Program. Youngstown State University (YSU), a member of the Ohio TechNet Northeast Ohio Semiconductor Workforce Consortium, is one of the institutions to receive the grant. The consortium aims to address semiconductor manufacturing workforce shortages, technical challenges, and to innovate and develop new capabilities in chipmaking. The grant money will be used, in part, to award scholarships to YSU students who are interested in the semiconductor industry and chip manufacturing.
