CSIS Research Team Enters 10-Week Internship At Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Dr. Alina Lazar on a Trail

Dr. Alina Lazar, Computer Science and Information Systems Professor, is leading her research team through another summer, with new students, at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.

“We are a team from Youngstown State University spending 10 weeks at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab this summer. The members of the team are students Alexandra Ballow and Tyler Leibengood (Mathematics and Physics Majors) and Alina Lazar, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. We are joining efforts with the lab as part of the Scientific Data Management Group, working with John Wu and Alex Sim. The students are supported by the undergraduate internship program at Berkeley Lab called BLUFF and I am sponsored by the Department of Energy through the Visiting Faculty Program (Lazar Blog Site).”

This summer alone, the students have traveled to many new and interesting places as well as given presentations on the progress of their research.

Make sure to keep up with their journey this summer by staying up to date with the team's blog posts.
