CCET Student awarded OCA Scholarship

Michael Moreland is a junior, from Hudson, Ohio, majoring in Civil and Construction Engineering Technology. Recently, Michael was a recipient of the Ohio Contractors Association (OCA) Hall of Fame Scholarship. The OCA Scholarship is a one year scholarship awarded to students who are obtaining two-year associate and four year bachelor’s degrees and pursuing careers in the heavy/highway construction industry. Nine college students were selected through an application process that includes recommendations from academic professors/instructors and industry representatives, an essay, scholastic ability, and financial assistance needed.
Dr. Carol Lamb recommended Mr. Moreland to be a recipient of this scholarship. “If you are already here, you might as well try. Professors acknowledge students who put forth the effort to learn the material. If you are a student who does not pick up the material as easily as others, like me, do not be afraid to ask your professors to explain the material differently. And if you do not want to ask for help in front of a class, go to the professor’s office hours or email them. They are there to help you and your effort will not go unnoticed.”
Mr. Moreland founded his own club, the Civil and Construction Engineering Technology Club. The purpose of this club is to help students learn about different job fields in the CCET major.
